{ mythology edits } liquid gold come to life:: AMBROSIA (ἀμβροσία)

a delicacy of the Greek gods, said to have been made of honey, water, fruit, cheese, olive oil and barley. often depicted as conferring immortality upon whoever consumed it, it was brought to the gods in Olympus by doves. It is sometimes depicted in ancient art as distributed by a nymph labeled with that name. In the myth of Lycurgus, an opponent to the wine god Dionysus, violence committed against Ambrosia turns her into a grapevine. There are several episodes in Greek myth in which ambrosia is used by the gods and goddesses as a sort of balm, to confer grace or even immortality (in the case of mortals) onto the recipient. One such incident that demonstrates how ambrosia was used to beautify involves Aphrodite:

"…there the Graces bathed her and anointed her with ambrosian oil such as is rubbed on deathless gods, divinely sweet, and made fragrant for her sake.
